Today???s GREEN ENERGY is CLEAN ENERGY
Green energy is generated from natural sources such as sunlight, wind, water, plants, algae, and geothermal heat. In contrast to fossil fuels, which continue to diminish over time, green energy is naturally replenished.
Green energy sources are readily available all over the country, including rural and remote areas. These renewable energy resources have far less negative impact on the environment than do fossil fuels that produce greenhouse gases and leave a carbon footprint ??? both of which affect our environment and contribute to climate change.
Additionally, accessing fossil fuels typically requires mining or drilling into the earth, affecting wildlife habitat and migration patterns as well as impacting environmental aesthetics.
Advances in renewable energy technologies have lowered the cost of solar panels, wind turbines, and other sources of renewable energy, making it more accessible for millions of people as a source of fuel for electricity.
At Mid South Contractors ULC, our Green Energy focus is on wind and solar energy production.
Wind Energy
The uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth’s surface, and the rotation of the earth cause winds. This wind flow, or kinetic energy, when ???harvested??? by modern wind turbines, can be used to generate electricity resulting in mechanical power referred to as ???wind energy??? or ???wind power.??? This mechanical power can be used for specific tasks or a generator can convert this mechanical power into electricity to power our homes and businesses.
A wind turbine is the opposite of a fan. Instead of using electricity to make wind, like a fan, wind turbines use wind to make electricity. The wind turns the turbine blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a generator, and makes electric current.
Mid South Contractors ULC has performed electrical contracting for many of the wind energy parks, or ???wind farms,??? located throughout Ontario.
Solar Power
Solar power is typically produced using photovoltaic cells, which capture sunlight and turn it into electricity that can be used to heat buildings and water, provide natural lighting, and cook food.
Mid South provides residential, commercial, and utility solar electric systems. Our specialty is turnkey solar installations from design to construction, with solar installers trained to provide top of the line solar installations for all of our customers.
Some recent green energy installations, both solar, and wind, completed by Mid South Contractors include:
